GEORGE BENDEZU TRAINING CENTER

Natural Touch for the Gaited Horse

Santa Barbara, California
Jorge Bendezu with Bo & John Dereck & Fito Matellini

Mr. Bendezu would like to take this opportunity to dedicate the following to Sr. Pepe Risso Sr.

Fito & George Bendezu

George Bendezu is well known in the Peruvian Horse world here in the United States, as well as in his home country, Peru, Central America and Canada. George's riding career began at the young age of five and his passion grew so much for horses that he would head out to the barn everyday after school to ride. He started training at the young age of 12 and his dedication and thirst for knowledge was so great that he would travel twenty miles by horseback to get to his mentor's  ranch, Jose Musante Hurtado.

While at the ranch George would sit and listen to Jose Musante Hurtado talk for hours about his horses and his breeding program. He also had the honor on numerous occasions to visit the ranch of the famous Fernando Grana, who was instrumental  in the development of the breed. George retains and utilizes the knowledge that he obtained from Sr. Grana and Sr. Musante Hurtado to this day. Another famous Peruvian gentleman that George had the privilege of learning from was Sr. Fito Matellini. Out of all the impressive famous Peruvian horsemen that George has known and learned from, the biggest influence came from a gentleman by the name of Jose Risso Matellini. By continually striving to improve the Peruvian breed, Jose Risso Matellini has become one of  the finest if not the finest, breeder of the Peruvian Paso Horse. His breeding program has been and still is fundamental in the success of the breeding programs in the Untied States, Europe and Central and South America. Through great respect and admiration George would like to thank Jose Risso Matellini. He would also like to  thank him and his family for the warm welcome he always receives when he visits the ranch in Peru.

                                  A SPECIAL FOOTNOTE!
WITH ALL THE YEARS GEORGE HAS SPENT WITH JOSE RISSO MATELLINI,
HE HAS LEARN FROM HIM:

A HORSE BREEDER WHO DOESN'T IMPROVE HIS ANIMALS
FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION IS NO MORE THAN A
                          " MULTIPLIER OF HORSES ".

Senor Pepe Risso Sr. & Grillo

George still fondly remembers and will never forget the  "golden years" he was able to spend at Jose Risso Matellini ranch with the old great breeders, such as Sr. Grana, Sr. Fito Matellini, Sr. Musante Hurtado.  They would all get together one weekend a month at Pepe Risso Matellini's ranch and George, Pepe Jr. and Edwardo would show the great breeders all of the "GREAT HORSES" of the ranch.  It was a great time had by all, and he still cherishes and implements today in his training, judging and all aspects of breeding his horses today.  George would also like to extend acknowledgment to Fernando Cerutti, Alfredo Elias Sr., and Sr. Luis Huguet.  George was also blessed with the very rare opportunity to be taught the traditional Peruvian Paso training from two famous" Maestro's" Alfredo Leon and Pedro Torres (both won many first place winnings at the Peruvian Nationals in Peru in their time.)  It is from these breeders and Maestro trainers that George Bendezu has developed his knowledge of breeding the Peruvian Paso Horse, and his own style of training combining the traditional Peruvian ways and European style of dressage.  No other trainer of the Peruvian Paso horse, here in the Untied States and Central and South America can make the above statement, but George.

George Bendezu's training center is located in Southwest lower Michigan on 120 rolling acres with miles of trails, indoor/outdoor arenas, box stalls with daily turnout.  George Bendezu is a carded Judge with the AAOBPPH (carded in the late 1980's) and also a carded Judge with the PPHRNA, this past October 2004 at the U.S. National show in Texas.

SINCE THE MERGER OF PPHRNA & AAOBPPH TO NAPHA NOW  THE SOLE Registry FOR THE PERUVIAN PASO HORSE, GEORGE IS NOW A CARDED JUDGE WITH THE NEW: NAPHA. HE IS NOW Available TO SERVE THE PERUVIAN HORSE IN  THE BEST Possible MANNER, TO JUDGE YOUR NEXT HORSE SHOW!!!

Mr. Bendeu is available for breeding evaluations, recommendations and consultations for the Peruvian Horse as well as other gaited breeds/trotting breeds, for the trail.

Mr. Bendezu has also had the privilege to learn from Luis Calderon of Spain in the training of the Andalusian horse.  Besides breeding, showing and training, Mr. Bendezu also retails only the finest quality of Peruvian Tack straight from his Artisans in Peru, where the factory is located.  To contact Mr. Bendezu for training, consultations, Judging or for information on stud service and sales, you may reach him by snail mail, email or phone.
